Tim Burns is a legend of Australian art rising in notoriety in the 1970s, his installation and art actions challenged audiences and experts. He was a pioneer of art films using super 8 and 16mm formats to create award winning films.
Burns' artworks use interactivity, surveillance, performance film, TV, video and painting and often broke new ground in their innovative use of media. A majority of his works are unknown to the Australian audience although he grew up in the WA Wheatbelt, where he now lives again. He lived and worked out of New York for 20 years and is mostly known there for his film and theatre work.
