Skipper's Lounge

Skipper's Lounge at the Dumbleyung Tavern is now home to a Donald Campbell exhibition with restored and original photographs and other memorabilia, celebrating Campbell and his team's World Water Speed Record achievement in1964.

It features high-resolution photographs,

including pictures of Constable 'Charlie' McCormack, Ian's father, who played a  significant role in organising the Campbell campaign in Dumbleyung.

Plus some of  Ian's mother's box brownie photographs, carefully restored by Paul Houghton alongside interpretive paintings, printed on canvas, by Phil Mouldycliff from Bolton in the UK.

There are images from a variety of sources including our friends over in Barmera In South Australia - so, many thanks to anyone who contributed.

Map shows the site of the Campbell camp and the beginning and end points of the record run - both in the shire of Wagin. The town of Dumbleyung played an important part in the record event, but many of the images at the lake-side were in fact in Wagin.
